Welcome to the website of Margate Baptist Church.
My name is Stephen Biddall, and I have been the pastor of the Church since September 2006. I have been a Baptist Minister for 26 years, working mainly in East London and Essex. My wife, Nicky, is a Public Rights of Way Officer; and we have two grown up children who both live in East Anglia.
My vision for our Church is that it should be a community with a heart that is on fire for God and for his world. We are situated in the very heart of Margate, in Cecil Square, and I believe that this is a good symbol of our calling to have a heart that is obedient to God, and passionate about sharing Jesus with our neighbours.
To sum it up, we believe that we need to have a heart for God – expressing itself through worship and prayer and obedient living; we believe that we need to have a heart for God’s world – expressed in local evangelism, community service, and world mission; and we believe that we need to have a heart for God’s family – expressed in fellowship together, caring relationships, and growth in discipleship.
This is our vision – but we are just a group of ordinary people, who meet together to celebrate God’s love, and to serve Jesus Christ by sharing his good news with others. You are very welcome to join us on Sundays – our main service is at 11am each week, and Evening Worship is at 6.30pm. We are a family Church – people of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. Our services are informal, and we try to blend contemporary music with more traditional hymns and songs. Our emphasis is on Bible teaching, and we aim to help everyone to understand God’s Word, and apply it to their daily lives.
During the week, we have many activities going on at the Church – you might like to get involved in some of them. They include House Groups, for Bible Study and prayer; Boys and Girls Brigades; Little Fishes Toddler Group; Coffee Mornings, Luncheon Club; Men’s Forum; and our Afternoon Fellowship, which meets on Thursdays at 2pm.
Thank you for visiting our website. We hope to get to know you in person soon!
Best wishes, Stephen Biddall (Pastor)
